«In Change»

The competition is now closed.

Change. What does that mean? Photography captures a thought, an idea, a short but sometimes life-changing moment. This is exactly what we look for in the photos we ask you to submit. The competition is open to all types of photography and is aimed at photographers from near and far.

Here's how it works:

  • Submit a maximum of 5 photographs on the subject In Change by 23 March 2018 (midnight).
  • The jury of experts will choose the best photos and award the first place jury prize
  • The 30 best photos selected by the expert jury will be shown in an open-air gallery in the shop windows of the Old Town during the festival from 27 April to 20 May 2018.
  • Everyone can vote for the Audience Award during the Fotofestival.

Fotofestival Lenzburg Prizes:

  • Prize of the international jury of experts: CHF 1,500. –
  • Audience Award, sponsored by Hypothekarbank Lenzburg: CHF 1,000. -

Our international jury consists of the following experts:

Antonio Carloni is the director of Cortona On The Move. At 30 founded the cultural association ONTHEMOVE together with some friends in 2011, to develop the international photo festival Cortona On the Move around the central theme of journey.  This "plein air" festival was inspired by photographers and curators, editors and experts, professionals and enthusiasts alike, whose task was to make the small Etruscan citadel an international centre of fine arts. Sven Eisenhut at age 32, Sven Eisenhut founded the first photo art fair in Switzerland and is actually its director. Photo Basel is the first and only photo art fair in Switzerland and takes place at the same time as Art Basel in June. (picture: Léa Girardin)

 

Andreas Geis is responsible for the Stapferhaus workshop and management programme in Lenzburg. He manages the team of exhibition attendants together with the senior mediators and is a curator at the new exhibition. His primary interest: letting the big questions reach not only the mind but also the belly of the visitors. Born 1982 in Germany, he moved to Switzerland for the Stapferhaus. After his studies, Andreas worked at the social business plan competition of a management consultancy, at the Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage of Rhineland-Palatinate, and at the Körber Foundation in Hamburg. (provided picture)

Margherita Guerra Italian, has been living in Lenzburg since 2013. She has been working in the field of photography for 20 years, studied theology and specialized in multimedia publishing at the Politecnico di Milano and photography at the Italian Institute of Photography. She has worked as a coordinator and photo manager in various publishing houses and photo archives. In 2015 she founded Yourpictureditor, an international network of image editors working in various countries (Switzerland, Italy, the UK, Germany, Hong Kong and China). In 2017 she began planning the Fotofestival Lenzburg, which she manages. She is president of the new association Lenzburg Gesellshaft für Fotografie. (picture: Federico Ciamei)

Sara Guerrini is a photo editor and photo consultant. She is a member of Yourpictureditor -  international network of freelance photo editors - and works with the photo agency Parallelozero, where she is responsible for managing the fellowship program and photographic work. She teaches career orientation as part of the international photography course at the IED (Milan). She has worked as a photo editor for the Magalog of Benetton Clothes For Humans, the European edition of Newsweek, the magazine D and D-LUI of the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica, and various magazines such as Geo, Colors, Stern, etc. and with major photo agencies: Gallery Stock (London/NY), Grazia Neri (Milan), Ostkreuz-Agentur der Fotografen (Berlin). She is editor of the non-fiction book Oltre l'immagine (Edizioni Postcart), which contains 15 interviews between psychotherapists and photographers. She also had the artistic direction of the project A-Z Milano (azmilano.com). (provided picture)

Simon Tanner born 1983 in Bern, lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland. After studying modern history and political science at the University of Bern, he studied editorial photography at the MAZ Media Training Center in Lucerne. In addition to his work as a photographer for the Neue Zürcher Zeitung NZZ, he pursues his own projects on political and social issues. In 2012 he won the Swiss Photo Award and Swiss Press Photo 12 in Zurich. In 2011 and 2014 he was nominated for the Joop Swart Masterclass. Since 2017 he has been the president of the vfg (Association of Photographic Designers) and lecturer at the F+F School of Art and Design in Zurich. (picture: Simon Tanner)

Romano Zerbini born 1963 in Zurich, is the director of Photobastei in Zurich. Since 1998 he has been in charge of the Swiss Photo Award, one of the most prestigious photo awards in the world. In 2010 he opened the Photogarage, a gallery for photography in Zurich from which Photobastei grew in Zurich in the following years. (picture: Monica Tarocco)

 

The jury will decide which participants of the photo competition have expressed the theme with originality, high quality and the most suitable pictorial language for a broad public.

 

The winners chosen by the expert jury to participate in the changing exhibition will be notified by 7 April 2018.
The winner of the Jury Prize will be notified by 7 April 2018. The award ceremony will take place at the opening of the festival on 27 April in the Gemeindesaal Lenzburg.
The Audience Award winner will be notified by 13 May 2018. The award ceremony will be held on 17 May in the foyer of the Hypothekarbank Lenzburg.
